– Strong Winds Forecast in Several Provinces
Cloudy skies are predicted over most parts of the island today (15), accompanied by widespread showers or thundershowers, as per the Meteorology Department.
Fairly heavy rainfall of about 100mm is anticipated in Eastern, Uva, Central, and Southern provinces, as well as in the Polonnaruwa district.
Fairly strong winds ranging from 30-40 kmph are expected over Northern, Eastern, North-Central, North-Western, and Uva provinces, and in Matara and Hambantota districts.
The general public is advised to take precautions to minimize potential damages caused by localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
