A complaint has been filed with the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) regarding a doctored social media post by the Nalanda College Old Boys’ Association, state newspaper Dinamina reported.
The original post was shared by the association to congratulate past pupil of the College Deshabandu Tennakoon on his appointment as Inspector General of Police (IGP).
However, a manipulated version of the post was later circulated on social media following Tennakoon’s recent court appearance and subsequent police custody.
The complaint alleged that the altered post misrepresents the original message. The matter has also been referred to the Cyber Crimes Division for further investigation, Dinamina reported. (Islandnews)
