Colombo Magistrate of the Court No 08 Tharanga Mahawatte yesterday ordered the YouTube channel owned by journalist Chamuditha Samarawickrama and five television stations to hand over the compact disks related to the alleged statement of social activist Namal Kumara which were aired to the Colombo Crimes Division.
The Magistrate made this order after the Colombo Crimes Division filed facts regarding the investigation with regard to an alleged statement made by Namal Kumara, a social activist insulting the Cardinal and the Catholic religion.
The magistrate issued the order after considering the request made by the CCD to provide CDs containing the footage of the channels which broadcast the statement made by Namal Kumara on a complaint made by the National Catholic Communications Director Rev.Fr. Jude Chrysantha to the Colombo Crimes Division.
