Digitalization program : Notice for Lankans in 7 cities

Under President Anura Kumara Dissanayake’s digitalization program, a project enabling Sri Lankans living abroad to obtain birth, marriage, and death certificates without delays through diplomatic missions was launched today (Jan. 6).

The initiative, implemented by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Employment, and Ministry of Tourism, was inaugurated by Minister Vijitha Herath.

The pilot project will initially cover seven missions: embassies in Japan, Qatar, and Kuwait, as well as consulates in Milan, Toronto, Melbourne, and Dubai. The program will eventually expand to all Sri Lankan missions globally.

Through this platform, expatriates can access key civil documents efficiently, enhancing convenience and reducing delays.
