Leader of Sarvajana Balaaya and Member of Parliament, Dilith Jayaweera, emphasized the importance of fostering national unity by working together with all ethnic and religious communities in the country.
He made these remarks after a discussion with representatives of the All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama organization today (25).
“We had a very productive discussion regarding the current situation in the country, particularly in terms of security. As Sarvajana Balaaya, we firmly believe in promoting a unified national identity by working together with all ethnicities and religious groups.”
He also commented on how different political parties interpret and use the concept of coexistence.
“Various political parties are using the term ‘coexistence’ for their own advantage, claiming to foster harmony among communities. However, we cannot move forward by importing foreign concepts of coexistence. Instead, our national identity must be built on our civilization, with all ethnic groups working together in respect and unity.”
Jayaweera further stated that he is committed to engaging in open discussions on national and religious harmony in Sri Lanka. (Islandnews)
