Former Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) Director Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Neville de Silva has been arrested by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID).
The former CCD Director has been arrested at the Police Field Force Headquarters yesterday evening (9), on charges of abduction and aiding and abetting unlawful detention by the CID.
Police Media Spokesman SSP Buddhika Manathunga said the CID had launched an investigation on a complaint received over an incident where a probe had been conducted over a complaint that had been received in August 2023 in the Colombo Crimes Division and it has been revealed that ASP Neville de Silva while he was the Director of the CCD had been found guilty of acting in a partial manner during the probe favouring a complainant which led to the arrest.
ASP de Silva who is under arrest will be produced before the Ratnapura Magistrate’s Court by the CID today(10).
Further investigations will be conducted by the CID.
