Former Kalutara District MP Lalith Ellawala, who crossed over to the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) from the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP), has announced his decision to end his political career.
Addressing the media in Panadura today, Lalith Ellawala announced that he has resigned from all posts held in the SJB with effect from today.
Announcing his decision, Lalith Ellawala accused the SJB of dictatorship and a lack of unity.
“The SJB is not what we expected. There is no unity within the party even though it identifies as ‘Samagi Jana Balawegaya’. There is a great dictatorship. A person who wants to work is not allowed to do so,” he said.
Lalith Ellawala further revealed that following the Parliamentary Election, only the party Secretary’s name had been included in the National List.
“In a short period, the SJB will become like a fruit swallowed by an elephant. This is why I have decided to step down from all posts held in the party. I have also decided to end my political career,” he added. (Islandnews)
