Four Police officers who had broken into a house, threatened its residents, and destroyed property by impersonating area Police officials, have been imposed a fine 19 years after the incident.
It is reported that the verdict was issued by Ampara Magistrate Lushaka Kumari Dharmakeerthi on Monday (Dec 09).
The accused had impersonated officers of the Bakkiella Police and had threatened residents of a house in the Kohombagasthalawa area in February 2005.
Three of the suspects who had been found guilty of the 09 charges filed against them have been imposed a fine of Rs. 1000 for six charges and Rs. 1500 for three charges, per person, while one accused is said to have passed away. (Islandnews)
