An officer attached to the Negombo Police has been arrested for aiding the suspects in the shooting of underworld kingpin Ganemulla Sanjeewa in a Colombo courthouse yesterday.
It is reported that the Police officer has been arrested over links to the female suspect who had transported the weapon used in the shooting into the court premises.Â
The arrested Police officer is reported to have been engaged in a telephone call with the female suspect, who is yet to be arrested.Â
Reports state the 25-year-old Police Officer was attached to the Negombo Police Crimes Unit and was on court duty.Â
He has been taken into custody by the Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) for further investigations. (Islandnews)
