Leader of the House Minister Bimal Rathnayake today informed the Parliament of the government’s decisions concerning the Parliamentary Committees of Public Enterprises and Public Accounts.
Minister Bimal Rathnayake said that the government has decided to grant the leadership of the Parliamentary Committee on Public Accounts (COPA) to the Opposition.
He said, however, the government has decided that the ruling party will head the Parliamentary Committee on Public Enterprises (COPE).
Minister Rathnayake said this was due to the COPE committee intending to focus on matters related to the former government, as its initial task.
The Leader of the House also assured that the government will do its utmost to accommodate the requirements of the opposition regarding representation in Parliamentary committees. (Islandnews)
