Minister of Trade and Commerce Wasantha Samarasinghe stated that fuel price revisions are made in line with the pricing formula, reflecting global market fluctuations.
“Fuel prices change according to the pricing formula, which aligns with global trends. Whether we like it or not, we follow this system, and prices will increase or decrease accordingly,” he said.
Speaking to the media in Anuradhapura, he reaffirmed the government’s commitment to implementing the formula and ensuring monthly price revisions as required.
The minister also highlighted government measures to provide economic relief, including a 30% electricity tariff reduction for factories, which he noted would indirectly benefit the public.
“As a government, we are working across all sectors to reduce the financial burden on the people. Our goal is to strengthen institutions, protect citizens, and drive economic growth,” he added.
