Police Spokesperson, Senior Superintendent of Police Buddhika Manatunga said that the hacker group responsible for yesterday’s attack on the Sri Lanka Police YouTube channel has been identified.
He further stated that this group had previously targetted the US State Department and the India’s Supreme Court in similar cyberattacks. The Sri Lanka Police’s official Facebook page, which was also compromised, has been successfully restored.
The spokesperson confirmed that efforts are currently underway to regain control of the Police YouTube channel using advanced software applications.
Meanwhile, Senior Information Security Engineer Charuka Damunupola of the Sri Lanka Emergency Response Forum assured that measures are being taken to restore the Government Printing Department’s website to its normal functionality.
