The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption has frozen a current account and a fixed deposit account linked to former Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella, holding a combined total of approximately Rs. 20 million.
According to the Commission, the accounts have been suspended for a period of seven days as part of investigations under the Anti-Corruption Act, with plans to seek an extension through the courts.
Previously, several assets belonging to Rambukwella, his wife, and other family members were seized amid the ongoing probe.
On July 5, 2024, the Colombo High Court ordered a three-month freeze on fixed deposits and insurance policies valued at Rs. 97.125 million held in a private bank, along with life insurance policies owned by Rambukwella’s wife, three daughters, and a son-in-law. This freeze was subsequently extended until January 4, 2025.
