The first-ever export consignment of canned fish produced in Sri Lanka was officially flagged off yesterday at the Ocean Food factory premises in Madurankuliya.
The event was held under the patronage of State Minister of Fisheries, Aquatic Resources, and Ocean Resources Development, Ratna Gamage.
This shipment of canned fish is being exported to the United Arab Emirates.
It marks the first time that canned fish manufactured in Sri Lanka is being sold in an international market, the Government Information Department said. (NewsWire)
