McDonald’s Corporation and International Restaurant Systems (Private) Limited have reached a mutually agreed-upon legal settlement, officially ending their franchise relationship in Sri Lanka. The agreement marks the conclusion of a partnership that saw McDonald’s operations managed locally by International Restaurant Systems (Pvt) Ltd for several years.
In a joint statement, both parties expressed their gratitude to the Sri Lankan public for their unwavering support throughout the years. They also requested the public to disregard any rumors or speculative reports that may have surfaced in the media regarding the nature of their separation.
While the terms of the settlement have not been publicly disclosed, the end of the partnership signals a significant shift in the fast-food landscape of Sri Lanka. McDonald’s has yet to announce any new plans for its future presence in the country, leaving room for speculation about the next steps in its operations.
