Users are reporting widespread issues accessing Meta’s social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, Threads, and Messenger, according to Downdetector.
The outages were first reported around 1 p.m. ET on Wednesday, with users experiencing difficulties accessing both the apps and websites of Facebook and Instagram. Messenger users also reported problems with logging in and sending messages.
Meta acknowledged the disruptions in a statement, saying, “We’re aware that a technical issue is impacting some users’ ability to access our apps. We’re working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible and apologize for any inconvenience.” (Islandnews)
