The Department of Motor Traffic (DMT) has announced that the Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) will be mandatory to register new vehicles and their related services.
Clarifying that the Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) will be mandatory for the registration of new vehicles, the DMT said, however, certain types of vehicles are exempted.
The department said the TIN number is not mandatory for the registration or transfer of motorcycles, three-wheelers, tractors, hand-tractors and tractor-trailers.Â
The clarification comes as the government had announced last month that following the lifting of vehicle import restrictions, the TIN number will be mandatory for the registration of vehicles. (Islandnews)
