Nilfer Ibrahim has decided to move to Vidyartha College as he moved on from St. Joseph’s College post the 2024 Schools’ Rugby League Season. A one-year contract is set to be signed tomorrow, 4th of November.
He succeeds Sumedha Malawana as Vidyartha has opted to sign free agent Nilfer as they aim to build on from their success in 2024.
The experienced campaigner will return to Kandy to take on the role while he continues his Head Coach role with Police Sports Club.
Radeesha Seneverathne and Anuruddha Wilwara are rumored to be joining the coaching set-up alongside Nilfer at the helm.
The former Kingswood College, Kandy SC and Navy SC player joined St. Joseph’s College in 2017 and went on to take them to heights which the Josephian outfit never reached, winning the Presidents Trophy Knockout Championship for the first time in their history.
He also took the Josephians to a second place finish in both the League and Knockout tournaments in 2022 as he brings the curtain down on a successful stint at the Helm of Joes Rugby.
Nilfer had a one-year spell at Kingswood, however, returned to St. Josephs in 2022 in which he went on to coach until the end of the 2024 Schools’ Rugby season.
He was known for his tremendous man management, taking Joes Rugby to new heights in what could be concluded as a successful 8-year reign at the helm at the Darley Road school.
