The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) said that a decision will be made today (10) on whether power cuts will be necessary until the Norochcholai coal power plant is reconnected to the system.
A special discussion regarding this matter is scheduled to take place today, according to the CEB.
Several media reports indicated that power supply is expected to be disrupted from time to time due to the breakdown of the Norochcholai coal power plant yesterday.
Following Sunday’s islandwide power outage, a supply-demand gap had been created, which will likely cause interruptions to the power supply, the CEB said.
The 900 MW power plant’s failure is expected to impact electricity supply, and the CEB is expected to announce the decision on power cuts later today. (Islandnews)
