NPP MP Dr. Kaushalya Ariyaratne has lodged a formal complaint with the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) regarding false news circulating about her on social media platforms.
In her statement, Ariyaratne said the false news included targeted personal attacks and unfounded claims intended to harm her reputation. She called on authorities to investigate the matter and take action against those responsible.
“I have lodged a formal complaint with the CID regarding the malicious and false news circulating on social media, including those targeting me personally,” she said.
Ariyaratne described the attacks as an attempt to discourage women from participating in politics. “If anyone believes such cheap tactics can deter women from participating in politics, they are sorely mistaken. Nor will these tricks harm the government—try harder!” she said.
She added, “While you resort to petty ploys, we will continue to focus on progress.”
