The Sinhala Literature exam for the Grade 11 final term test of schools in the North Central Province has been postponed due to some questions being leaked on social media.Â
The Education Secretary to the North Central Province, Sirimevan Dharmasena said some questions of the examination to be held today had been leaked before the exam.
Around 22,000 students were to sit for the examination of which the government had spent Rs. 150,000 to print the said question paper.Â
However, the Education Ministry received information that some tuition teachers in the Anuradhapura and Kurunegala areas had shared some questions of the exam paper with their students prior to the exam.Â
Accordingly, the distribution of examination papers at 600 schools in 30 divisions of 08 educational zones was halted today.Â
Sirimevan Dharmasena further said that measures were taken to temporarily postpone the examination and that a new question paper will be prepared and distributed in due course.Â
He added that a complaint has been filed with the Anuradhapura Police to identify the perpetrators behind the paper leak. (Islandnews)
