President AKD suggests new solution to Mahinda’s house problem

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake says the government will provide a suitable house if former President Mahinda Rajapaksa does not have a house to move in.

Speaking at a public meeting in Thambuththegama yesterday, the President said he and his ministers have not yet moved into their allocated houses, questioning why former Presidents were finding it hard to relocate.

“It is unfair to live in a mansion by spending taxpayers’ money. If the President and the Ministers had changed, why could they not change? If they have nowhere to go, we will provide them with a suitable house to live in. The mansion they reside in is very large,” said the President.

“When we ask them to leave, they call it political persecution. We are not persecuting anyone. We are taking the country in a new direction. Before asking them to leave, they should vacate. What we are asking of them is to change. Before spending taxpayers’ money, we should think twice,” he added. (Islandnews)
