Sri Lankan spin duo Wanindu Hasaranga and Maheesh Theekshana were snapped up by Rajasthan Royals at the IPL 2025 Mega Auction held today (24th November) in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
The day 1 of the auction saw two Sri Lankans sold to Rajasthan Royals. Hasaranga was picked by Royals for INR 5.25 Crore (Equivalent to LKR 18.09 Crore).
Theekshana was bought at the price of INR 4.40 Crore (Equivalent to LKR 15.16 Crore). Meanwhile, India’s wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant became the most expensive player in IPL history after he was sold to Lucknow Super Giants for INR 27 Crore (Equivalent to LKR 93.03 Crore).
Pant surpassed the record set by Indian team-mate Shreyas Iyer who got a bid worth INR 26.75 Crore from Punjab Kings (Equivalent to LKR 92.17 Crore) a few minutes earlier.
The Day 2 of the auction will begin tomorrow (25th November) at 3.30 PM Sri Lanka Time.
