Reshan Algama’s superb 67 and Kaya Daluwatte’s impressive 69 highlighted the opening day of the Faldo Junior Tour of the Faldo Series Sri Lanka 2025, sponsored by DFCC Bank and hosted by the Royal Colombo Golf Club yesterday.
Algama’s sensational round of 67 gross in the Boys Age Group 13-16 division placed him five strokes ahead of his nearest competitors, Indian players Ayan Ahmed and Vivaan Ubhayakar, who both carded 72. Sri Lankan golfers Adihtya Weerasinghe and Jevahn Sathasivam followed closely with gross scores of 73, securing fourth and fifth positions.
Sri Lanka’s top-ranked female golfer, Kaya Daluwatte, dominated the Girls Age Group 13-21 category with a remarkable score of 69. Daluwatte’s performance put her six strokes ahead of India’s Dia Cris Kumar, who carded a 75, followed by compatriots Jeeva Ashok (82) and Tamanna Kandra (84). Local player Sithara Lorance finished fifth with a gross score of 95.
In the Boys Age Group 17-21 division, Harun Aslam of Victoria Golf Resort and Yannik Kumara shared the top spot with identical gross scores of 72. They were trailed by India’s Shamit Dakhane (73) and Sri Lanka’s K Dhanushan (74).
