Fort Magistrate Nilupuli Lankapura has ordered the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) to conduct a comprehensive probe and present facts to the court related to the misplacement of items worth Rs. 162 million from the President’s Media Unit in the past.
The order was issued yesterday after the CID had informed the court that it had launched a probe based on a complaint filed in this regard and that it would take steps to brief the court on the progress of the probe.
Informing the court that a statement has already been recorded from the procurement officer in this regard, the CID said that steps have been taken to obtain statements from those who had received the goods.
The CID further said that a probe has been launched to determine the items that have been reported as misplaced.Â
The list of items reported as misplaced will be submitted to the Court, the CID added. (Islandnews)
