School equipment for selected needy children from four districts was donated recently under a welfare programme organised by Hilda Jayawardenerama Temple in Ottawa, Canada.
The children sitting for the Grade 5 Scholarship Exam this year selected from needy families in Ratnapura, Moneragala, Matara and Hambantota were given school equipment sets worth nearly Rs.7,000 during a ceremony at Embilipitiya Padalangala Rajapakse Primary School. The donations were made by Sri Lankan philanthropists residing in Australia and Canada. The event was conducted according to the guidance and advice of Ven. Nugegalaya Jinananda Thera of the Hilda Jayawardanarama Temple in Ottawa.
