The owner of a Spa, who had recruited three young women from Indonesia to work as therapists but had forced them into the sex trade, has been sentenced to 15 years of rigorous imprisonment.Â
Issuing the judgement today, the Colombo High Court said the sentence should be served in 05 years and further ordered the suspect to pay the three victims Rs. 250,000 each as compensation.
The court also warned that a one-year simple sentence would be issued if the suspect failed to settle the compensation.Â
The suspect was arrested following a raid conducted by the Walana Anti-Crimes Unit in 2011, after which the Attorney General had filed a case under three charges. (Islandnews)
