SPC’s 201 vehicles, motorcycles missing


An audit report issued by the National Audit Office regarding the performance of Southern Provincial Council (SPC) points out that it has been unable to trace the physical existence of 201 vehicles and motorcycles registered at the Department of Motor Traffic in the name of the council.

Accordingly, 178 vehicles and motorcycles registered at the Motor Traffic Department and vehicles included in the lists provided by the provincial institutions have been found to be non-physical the Audit Report further confirms.

Further the physical existence of some other four vehicles and motor cycles has also been impossible to locate.

Surprisingly, free Revenue Licences for 30 vehicles registered under the name of Southern Province Commissioner of Local Government have been issued, the audit investigation has found to the dismay of officials.
