Sri Lanka National Cricket Selection Committee has selected a 17-member squad to take part in the two-match Test series against South Africa.
Dhananjaya de Silva will lead the Sri Lankan contingent as usual and heads a strong batting unit that includes the likes of experienced trio – Dimuth Karunaratne, Angelo Mathews, Dinesh Chandimal and Kusal Mendis, Pathum Nissanka, Kamindu Mendis.
The off-spinner Ramesh Mendis who has been a regular feature in Sri Lanka Test squad has lost his place to Nishan Peiris another promising off-spinner who claimed a match bag of 9 wickets in his debut Test match against New Zealand two months ago.
The left-arm spinner Lasith Embuldeniya has also returned to the side replacing wrist-spinner Jeffrey Vandersay.
The selectors have strengthened Sri Lanka’s seam attack by adding Kasun Rajitha making it a five-bowler seam unit.
The team will leave for South Africa on November 22, 2024. The two-match test series is part of the ICC World Test Championship.
The test series will begin on the 27thth November 2024 at Kingsmead Durban, while the second test will commence on the 5thth December at St. Georges Park, Gqeberha.
