Cabinet approval has been granted to sign the bi-partial Civil Aviation Agreement between the Governments of Sri Lanka and Italy.
According to the government, discussions were held between the Governments of Sri Lanka and Italy in respect of the necessary steps relevant to the bi-partial civil aviation activities, after which Cabinet approval was granted in July 2018 for signing a civil aviation agreement between the two countries.
However, the said agreement has yet to be signed, and both parties have identified the need to enter into the said agreement promptly.
Under the agreement, it has been proposed to operate up to 14 fixed scheduled air routes per week for air passenger services and up to 07 fixed scheduled air routes per week for air cargo services on agreed routes using any type of aircraft.
Accordingly, the Cabinet of Ministers has approved the proposal presented by the Minister of Civil Aviation to sign the said civil aviation agreement between the Governments of Sri Lanka and Italy. (Islandnews)
