Sri Lanka registered a comfortable win over New Zealand XI in a T20 Warmup game played today (23rd December) at Lincoln.
Batting first, the hosts were restricted to just 94 runs as Sri Lanka produced a clinical collective bowling effort led by Wanindu Hasaranga.
Hasaranga scalped 3 wickets for 12 runs while Charith Asalanka and Matheesha Pathirana bagged 2 wickets each for the visitors.
Sri Lanka managed to cruise to the target in just 10.5 overs as the left-handed duo Kusal Perera and Kamindu Mendis chipped in with quick-fire 30 and 28 respectively.
Meanwhile, the two sides involved in a T10 encounter after the completion of the T20 warmup game at the same venue.
Sri Lanka batted first this time and posted a commanding total – 128/2 on the board courtesy of cameos from Pathum Nissanka (31 off 15), Wanindu Hasaranga (27 off 11) and Bhanuka Rajapaksa (25 off 16).
The hosts also put on a decent show with the bat but fell short of the target by 32 runs. Nuwan Thushara was the pick of the bowlers for Sri Lanka as he grabbed 2 wickets for 10 runs in his 2-over spell.
