Sri Lanka qualified for the Semi Finals of Hong Kong Sixes 2024 as they registered a comfortable win over Nepal in the Quarter Final encounter played today (2n.d November) at Mong Kok.
After being put into bat first, Sri Lanka posted a commanding total on the board – 123/2 in the allotted 6 overs.
The opening batter Sandun Weerakkody clubbed a powerful half-century in just 14 balls before leaving the field retired hurt. The skipper Lahiru Madushanka also joined the party with a blistering knock – 31 off 8 balls.
In reply, Nepal made only 83 runs despite Rashid Khan’s stunning knock – 55 off 18 balls. Lahiru Samarakoon and Tharindu Rathnayake grabbed 2 wickets each for Sri Lanka.
Sri Lanka will face Bangladesh in the second Semi Final encounter tomorrow (3rd November) at 11.15 AM (Sri Lanka Time).
