A teacher and his wife have been arrested in connection with the abduction and assault of a deputy principal, police said.
The suspects, a 37-year-old man and his 32-year-old wife, were taken into custody yesterday by officers from the Biyagama Police Station. Both are employed at the same school and reside in the Siyambalape area.
According to reports, the incident occurred on Feb. 4, when a person was forcibly placed into a jeep near a temple in Siyambalape, within the Biyagama police division. The victim was then taken to a house in the area and assaulted.
Police investigations suggest the abduction was linked to a longstanding dispute.
