Two tragic incidents of domestic violence resulting in murder were reported from the Wadduwa and Puttalam police divisions yesterday.
A 28-year-old woman was brutally murdered by her husband at a residence in the Weragama area of Wadduwa. The suspect, who slit his wife’s throat, later surrendered to the Wadduwa Police, following which an investigation was launched.
Preliminary inquiries suggest that the murder was a result of a domestic dispute. The body has been placed at the Panadura Hospital morgue for post-mortem examination, while Wadduwa Police continue further investigations.

Meanwhile, in another shocking incident in the Kaladiya, Hasthipura area of Puttalam, a man attacked two women with a sharp weapon, leaving one dead and the other injured.
The deceased, a 50-year-old resident of Kaladiya, was identified as the mother of the injured woman. Investigations revealed that the suspect, the husband of the deceased, committed the crime due to a family dispute. He fled the area after the attack, and police have launched a manhunt to arrest him.
The body has been placed at the Puttalam Hospital morgue, while authorities continue further investigations. (Islandnews)
