Two Sri Lankans who had attempted to travel to England via Nepal using fake passports were apprehended at the Katunayake Airport yesterday.
The first suspect to be arrested was a 39-year-old resident of Batticaloa.Â
The suspect had arrived at the airport yesterday to embark on an Indian airline bound for Nepal but had been arrested at the Immigration counter.
Officials at the Immigration counter had inspected the man on suspicion after which they had found that his passport was counterfeit and had been created using information of another person with similar features.
Upon further inquiry, the man revealed that another suspect was also at the airport, had already obtained immigration clearance, and was boarding the flight. (Islandnews)
