A couple that had visited a deer viewing spot near the beach in the vicinity of the Sanghamiththa Temple in Trincomalee have been robbed after being threatened by three persons who had arrived in a car.
According to the Police, the couple had driven to the spot last evening and had been threatened by the suspects, who had robbed them of their car, money, and jewellery.
A probe had been launched following a complaint filed at the Trincomalee Police, after which two of the suspects had been apprehended near the Kinniya Bridge during a raid conducted yesterday.
The arrested suspects are aged 34 and 35 years and are residents of Trincomalee.
The Police had also seized the stolen vehicle, as well as the car used by the suspects, and a mobile phone during the raid.
The Trincomalee Police is conducting further investigations to arrest the third suspect who is in possession of the stolen goods. (Islandnews)
