The Department of Meteorology has issued an advisory for severe lightning for the Western, Sabaragamuwa, North-western, Northern and North-Central Provinces and the Galle, Matara, Monaragala and Matale districts.
According to the department, the weather advisory is effective until 11.00 pm today.Â
Warning that there may be temporary localised strong winds during thundershowers, the department urged the public to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by lightning activity. (Islandnews)
